The Supreme Medical Council calls on the Minister of Health to take urgent steps to ensure a significant increase in funding for hospital services in pediatrics and child and adolescent psychiatry. In the opinion of the Medical Council, the current level of funding does not allow children's hospitals to maintain financial liquidity and provide health services at the level that young patients deserve.

As we read in an appeal published on the website of the Supreme Pharmaceutical Chamber, the situation of pediatrics and child and adolescent psychiatry departments needs immediate improvement. The treatment of children in pediatric wards, and especially child and adolescent psychiatry, should occupy a special place in the efforts of state authorities responsible for health policy.

"Continuously for many years, pediatrics and child psychiatry have been extremely underfunded fields. This results in the closure of more pediatric wards and child and adolescent psychiatry departments. This threatens the safety of young patients and causes the trauma of having to search for wards far from home," the NRA points out.

Meanwhile, the health ministry has repeatedly stressed in recent months that outlays for child and adolescent psychiatry have quadrupled since 2019. We are also in the process of reforming this area of health care. It already includes more than 400 centers for community psychological and psychotherapeutic care for children and adolescents.
