Paramedic with new qualifications

The Regulation of the Minister of Health of 16 December 2019 on medical rescue activities and health services other than medical rescue activities that may be provided by a paramedic (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 863) specifies the detailed scope of :
1) medical rescue operations that may be provided by a paramedic on their own or on the physician's order;
2) health services other than medical rescue activities, which may be provided by a paramedic on their own or on the order of a doctor.
The growing number of basic medical rescue teams without a doctor, the high absenteeism of system doctors during successive waves of COVID-19 cases, as well as the expansion of the competences of paramedics, have contributed to the need to expand the powers of this professional group, especially in the field of services intended for independent performance.
The draft regulation introduces new activities for paramedics - independent endotracheal intubation, with the prior use of muscle relaxants and anesthetics, ultrasound in emergency conditions, urinary bladder catheterization, and minor surgical procedures at the request of a physician, subject to specialization in the field of surgical assistance doctor. The project also envisages extending the catalog of self-administered drugs by a paramedic in preparation for endotracheal intubation, in acute coronary syndromes, convulsions, in acute circulatory failure, in hemorrhages and in pain management.
