Full spectrum of infertility treatment
As Prof. Rafal Kurzawa points out, the recommendations of the committee are based on the need to provide extensive support for those struggling with infertility. - This support should include all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are related precisely to infertility from the very beginning, from the simplest such methods, which are used to diagnose the cause, to the most complicated, most technologically advanced ones, which include in vitro fertilization.
Registers of procedures
Prof. Kurzawa points out the need to create registries of procedures to monitor the effectiveness of treatment and fund only those centers that achieve the best results. - The main point here is to be able to monitor the effectiveness of treatment, and then assess what the rate of return actually is, he says in an interview.
An investment in fertility is an investment in the future
According to Prof. Kurzawa, comprehensive support in infertility treatment has not only a medical dimension, but also a social and economic one. The expert stresses that by supporting families today, the state is building social and economic capital for the future. He adds, however, that even increasing the budget by 100 million zlotys last year does not solve the problem. - Such funding still seems too small to meet the demand that arises from the fact that there are as many couples with infertility as there are in Poland, he concludes.
