Support program for child and adolescent psychiatric wards extended and with more funding

The government wants to extend the program to support psychiatric wards for children and adolescents until the end of 2024. There will also be additional money for the program - the budget for this purpose will increase from 80 to 90 million zlotys. Thanks to the solution, treatment entities selected through a competition will be able to make full use of the funds allocated for improving psychiatric care.
Child psychiatry is a priority field, so the situation in child and adolescent mental health care is constantly monitored in terms of the number of patients, availability and quality of services provided. Currently, there is a worsening of existing mental crises among adolescents, and consequently also an increase in the number of patients who require the support of mental health specialists.
Key solutions
- The program to support psychiatric wards for children and adolescents will be extended until the end of 2024.
- Thanks to this, it will be possible to grant aid to carry out investments in medical entities that provide health care services related to psychiatric care and addiction treatment provided in an inpatient setting.
- It is also about the need to improve the operating conditions and infrastructure of psychiatric wards for children and adolescents.
- Currently, 26 medical entities have qualified for the program. - An additional PLN 10 million will be allocated for the program (the program budget will increase from PLN 80 million to PLN 90 million).
