- I encourage parents to make a responsible decision to vaccinate their child against #HPV. A campaign to promote vaccination has been underway for a week. The hotline has so far been called by 8,000 parents," said Adam Niedzielski, Minister of Health.
As a reminder, the universal free HPV vaccination program targets girls and boys aged 12 and 13 (born from January 1, 2010 to age 14). HPV vaccination for girls and boys aged 12 and 13 is administered in two doses. The interval between these doses is 6 to 12 months. Children born in 2010 who receive the first dose of the vaccine can receive the second dose when they turn 14.
HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is the name of the human papillomavirus. HPV is responsible for cervical cancer, as well as other cancers. A vaccine can protect against HPV infection. Vaccination is most effective if it occurs before potential exposure to HPV infection, which occurs mainly through sexual contact. Therefore, common HPV vaccination programs most often target girls and boys aged 12-13.
- The greatest gift to our child will be their health. Let's give the gift of that health and enroll our children in the HPV vaccination. This one decision can save many serious problems in the future," encourages Minister Adam Niedzielski.
In Poland, 2 vaccines are available free of charge in the universal HPV vaccination program: Cervarix 2-valent vaccine and Gardasil 9-valent vaccine.
