Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski announced changes in the restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic. The changes will apply from March.

According to the Prime Minister, the analysis of the latest data on hospitalization and mortality caused by Omicron infection allows him to recommend far-reaching changes in the context of restrictions and remove a significant number of restrictions that have accompanied us so far - especially in the context of economic life. Together with the head of the Ministry of Health, he emphasized that vaccination remains the most effective shield to fight the virus. What can we expect from March 1st?

  • The obligation to wear masks in public places (e.g. in shops and public transport; changes in this matter will be known within two weeks)
  • Remote work is no longer required in offices, enterprises and companies
  • The quarantine is in abbreviated mode

Minister Niedzielski said that the priority is to defrost the health service and make up for the health debt as soon as possible.

According to the experts of the Medical Council, in the coming months we can expect coronavirus infections at a level similar to the flu peak. Continuation of downward trends, which are very clear, led to a situation in which we can talk about a rapid reduction in the number of 5th wave infections. Currently, the mortality and hospitalizations caused by Omicron are far lower than predicted. Daily we record about 350 fewer hospitalizations. One of the most important arguments in favor of making such a decision is the level of immunization - at the moment we have achieved protection at the level of 90%.

Prime Minister Moriawiecki assured us that we can look to the future with hope, although - as he admitted - it is overshadowed by the decision of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, towards Ukraine.

Other European countries are lifting the restrictions but still urging for vaccination
Changes approved with medical board
Masks are still mandatory in public places, shops, public transport
Normal work in offices returns
We maintain a quarantine in a reduced time for household members
The pandemic chapter is not closed yet

We will gradually move away from all restrictions
The pandemic showed what vaccinations are, vaccination is a shield that will help fight the epidemic

The slogan that helped us the most was solidarity

The decision we communicate is based on careful analysis

new infections do not translate into a large number of hospitalizations

a decrease in beds, about 350 less hospitalizations per day

the risk is relatively low

immunization is another argument (vaccination and disease) - a significant increase in immunization (presence of antibodies) 80%. , and at the moment it is above 90 percent. we are protected against possible relapses (as far as the virus mutations we know about)

the priority is to defrost health care

increasing access to health care and catching up on health debt is the most important

lifting restrictions on the freedom of economic life

Omicron is less dangerous than Delta
