- One of the first demands for women's rights and freedoms is possibly free access to contraceptives, and more precisely to the so-called "morning-after pill," that is, medicinal products authorized and used in contraception. For unknown reasons, they were written into the law as medicines requiring a prescription, which very often reduces to zero the possibility for those concerned to use this measure," Donald Tusk said.
According to the Prime Minister, changes to make emergency contraception more accessible have been the subject of talks within the coalition. Despite differences in the coalition's approach to the topic, an agreement was eventually reached
- As a government, we will jointly propose an amendment to this law on exactly this point, making this type of contraceptive available without a prescription," Donald Tusk indicated.
As the head of government reminded, Poland is the only country, besides Hungary, where emergency contraception is available only on the basis of a doctor's prescriptions.
