Parents enrolled less than half a million children for the COVID-19 vaccination, of which about 370,000 were vaccinated with the first dose, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. 935,000 are vaccinated in the 12-17-year-old group, in which vaccinations have been carried out since June.

This is data provided to journalists by the Ministry of Health at the end of last week. The "Strategy to combat the pandemic" published on Friday shows that the number of vaccinated children and adolescents on January 10 was:

- 1st dose in the age group 5-11 - 253,745 people

- 2nd dose in the age group 5-11 - 49,003 people

- 1st dose in the age group 12-17 - 887,567 people

- 2nd dose in the age group of 12-17 - 769,515 people. ”

In January, the Ministry of Health alerted several times that, especially in the younger age group, there was no apparent interest in parents and guardians in vaccinating children against COVID-19, as evidenced by the slow growth in registration for vaccination (around 6,000 a day recently).

How does Poland look compared to other EU countries? There is no data on vaccination in the youngest age group in ECDC yet - from any country. However, ECDC publishes several data from which it can be concluded that Poland copes with the vaccination of children and adolescents to the same extent as with vaccination of the elderly population.

First, the level of vaccination in the entire group under 18, including children from 0-4 years of age who are not vaccinated at all, at least at the moment, and children in groups 5-9 (this is the breakdown taken by ECDC ), for which vaccination is not available so far. This group also includes children and adolescents aged 10-14 and 15-17 - and these three categories (the last two and the collective one, under 18) allow us to trace the process of vaccinating minors.

The largest percentage of the population under 18 has been vaccinated by Denmark (almost 40 percent) and Portugal (30 percent), countries that are leaders in vaccination against COVID-19 in Europe and the world. At least every fourth person in this age group has been vaccinated by ten more countries, including three countries larger than Poland - Spain, Italy and France. Poland's result is 17.3 percent.

In the group of the oldest youth (15-17 years old), Iceland is the leader (92%), but a great result - over 88%. - Denmark also won. The level of 80 percent Portugal and Finland exceeded, and Spain is close to this result (79%). Poland? 51%, which does not differ significantly from the vaccination level of the entire population (approx. 56%).

In the younger youth group (10-14 years), Denmark again holds the lead plastron (60%), followed by Portugal (50%), and 40%. five more countries (including Spain) were able to achieve this. Poland reported 28 percent. vaccinated in this age group.
