We are throwing open the door to a pandemic again

Despite appeals from many medical circles, including doctors from the Alliance of Healthcare Employers, the minister of health lifted the most important covid restrictions. In shops, shopping malls, cinemas and other public places (except for medical facilities), from March 28, you no longer need to wear masks. There will also be no home isolation or quarantine, and coronavirus infection will be treated like any other contagious disease.

- We believe that it is definitely too early for such decisions. There is talk of a decrease in the number of infections and acquired immunity among Poles. Meanwhile, as you know, it is still insufficient. Just 60 percent of those vaccinated, rising wave of SARS-CoV-2 in Western Europe. We have already underestimated the pandemic once by proclaiming victory! And we did it a lot, we "drove" - comments Bożena Janicka, president of PPOZ.

Before the minister of health announced the lifting of the restrictions, PPOZ doctors warned that COVID-19 is still the main cause of death among patients, especially those with multiple diseases, immunodeficiency and unvaccinated patients: "the coronavirus leads to exacerbation of diseases and, as a result, to serious complications, mainly pneumonia and myocarditis. A great many patients die from this. ”

Doctors also reminded that the spread of infections is favored by a low, only 60% immunization rate (only one in three Polish patients applied for a booster dose!).

- We have the impression that vaccination, or rather the lack of interest in vaccines, has become unattractive to the rulers. Better to talk about immunity from disease than to complain about the fact that people have stopped vaccinating. Everything turned upside down again: lifting restrictions in the absence of vaccinations and a huge wave of migration! Yes, the minister recommends masks in larger groups, but this is only ... a recommendation! It is known that no one will follow it. The same as staying home when you are suspected of having COVID-19 infection. Maybe spring and summer will go unnoticed somehow, but we are afraid that in autumn we will pay dearly for our premature joy! Well, it's not the first time we've heard about the end of the threat!
