Who takes over as director of the National Blood Center?

After Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna accepted the resignation of Malgorzata Lorek from her position as director of the National Blood Center, the health ministry announced that Sebastian Twaróg, the current deputy director, will take over as director of the National Blood Center starting September 4.

The object of NCK's activities is:

• Implementation of tasks related to the supervision of the organization of blood collection, separation of blood components and blood supply;
• Providing an opinion, as commissioned by the minister responsible for health, on the action plans for blood donation and bloodletting prepared by the Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology;
• Monitoring the needs for the supply of blood, its components and blood products;
• Programming of the tasks referred to in points 1 and 3, and implementation of changes in this regard;
• Development of current and prospective programs in the areas referred to in items 1 and 3;
• Organization of the supply of blood products to the health care system;
• Proposing solutions to ensure the self-sufficiency of the Republic of Poland in blood, its components and blood products;
• Implementation of tasks related to health programs in the field of blood and blood donation;
• Implementation of tasks related to the transfer and settlement of subsidies granted by the Minister responsible for health in the field of blood donation and bloodletting;
• Implementation of the tasks of the minister responsible for health, related to the granting of the title "Honorary Blood Donor", the title "Distinguished Honorary Blood Donor" and the badge "Honorary Blood Donor - Meritorious for the Health of the Nation";
• To carry out the tasks of the minister responsible for health in the verification of reports assessing compliance by organizational units of the public blood service with certain criteria for obtaining accreditation and compliance with the medical principles of blood collection, separation of its components and its distribution;
• Collection, analysis and compilation of statistical data necessary for the proper management of the public blood service;
• Cooperation with the Polish Red Cross and other NGOs in promoting honorary blood donation;
• Development and opinion of draft legislation and assumptions of legal acts in the field of public blood service;
• Preparing draft responses of the Minister of Health, in the field of blood donation and haematology, to parliamentary interpellations and inquiries, complaints and interventions of deputies and senators, as well as to the desiderata and opinions of parliamentary committees, speeches of the Ombudsman, the President of the Supreme Chamber of Control, the First President of the Supreme Court, the Ombudsman for Children, the President of the Constitutional Court or other public authorities;
