The sooner the better - that's the thought that may come to mind after listening to an interview with today's guest. Rehabilitation can prolong our lives and support the body in resisting the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, Adam Siger argues in our interview.
Rehabilitation of patients with Parkinson's disease - challenges

Adam Siger:
- Patients present for therapy at a late stage of the disease, with advanced motor stiffness.
- Physiotherapists reach patients too late, when mobility problems prevent patients from functioning normally.
- When the symptoms are not aggravated, we can talk about physioprophylaxis, that is, measures to create a habit of regularity in exercise.
- Therapy different from all because of the characteristics of the symptoms - very specific methods like multitasking training or dancing and their combinations selected according to the needs of the patient.
- Systematic rehabilitation can be very helpful in offsetting the symptoms of depression that occur in Parkinson's disease.
- There is no qualification for Parkinson's disease patients in neurological rehabilitation units - a change is needed in this regard.
- A coordinated care model is needed to prepare appropriate and readily available therapy.
