Wroclaw Medical University the best university in Poland

In this year's edition of the ranking, analyzing nearly 2,100 universities from all over the world (100 more than last year), the Medical University of Wroclaw was ranked between 501-600. This means that it joined the ranks of the top 2-3 percent of universities in the world. This confirms its unique position in the global academic environment.

- First place, ahead of Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw, icons that all of us in the country follow closely, is an extremely nice distinction for me. I am very pleased, especially since the Times Higher Education World University Rankings distinguish us particularly in two areas: teaching and research quality. We have made their improvement a priority in the past term. The results are pleasing and motivate us to reach even further. That's why this term we are focusing on the social responsibility of universities, especially in the context of popularizing knowledge and science. These are now priority areas for us, expanding the standard scopes of our teaching, scientific and clinical activities," says Prof. Piotr Ponikowski, rector of UMW.

The university has continuously held the title of the best medical university in Poland for three years, ahead of the Medical University of Lodz, the Medical University of Bialystok, the Medical University of Gdansk and the Medical University of Warsaw. This result testifies to the high quality of education, innovative approach to research and wide range of international cooperation. Wroclaw Medical University also remains the best university in Wroclaw and Lower Silesia.

Global rankings - a measure of quality

THE WUR ranking is one of the most prestigious international university rankings, which has been analyzing the educational and research activities of universities around the world since 2010. The ranking evaluates universities based on 18 indicators, taking into account the quality of research, academia, cooperation with industry and international perspective, among others. This year, 157 million citations and 18 million scientific publications were analyzed, as well as the results of 93,000 surveys assessing academic reputation.

Participation and a high position in global rankings, such as THE WUR or the Shanghai List (ARWU), is not only prestigious, but also a real benefit for the university. It makes it possible to establish cooperation with the best research centers in the world, win prestigious grants and attract students and scientists from abroad.
