The Supreme Audit Office has begun direct inspections at the Ministry of Health, the Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate and the Provincial Pharmaceutical Inspectorates. The decision was made after a detailed analysis of drug safety problems.
NIK auditors will check whether the actions of state bodies effectively ensure the availability of medicinal products and the legality of their circulation. In particular, the following will be assessed:
- The effectiveness and regularity of the GIF's oversight of drug marketing facilities,
- The manner in which proceedings are conducted against these facilities and their activities,
- actions taken by the GIF in monitoring the availability of medicinal products,
- Procedures for detecting and preventing illegal drug trafficking.
The NIK also intends to examine how the GIF's cooperation with other authorities and institutions in combating illegal drug trafficking is going. A separate part of the audit will concern the implementation of previous audit conclusions - it will be checked whether the chamber's recommendations from previous audits have been implemented and what effects they have had.
