The opening of the exhibition took place this past week in front of the Columned Hall, just before the meeting of the Standing Subcommittee on Oncology, which focused on the prevention of men's diseases.
- Men often think that this topic does not concern them, that it is someone else's business. Then it turns out that they were very wrong. This exhibition shows what our men's health looks like in the European and international context. For it turns out that prevention is even worse in men than in women," subcommittee chairwoman Barbara Dziuk stressed in an interview with Medexpress.
Data from the National Cancer Registry shows that the most common male cancer is prostate cancer. It has an incidence of 17,500 and a mortality rate of 5,500 per year.
- We need to remember the risks, prevention and research. We need to know that certain things should not be left to the last minute, only if there are certain symptoms, then action must be taken. However, one should remember about the prostate examination even if these symptoms are not observed," stressed MP Tomasz Latos, chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee.
The importance of not only prevention, but also the transfer of knowledge about it is best known to patients. Miroslaw Czechowski, vice-president of the Professor Tadeusz Koszarowski Association of Men with Prostate Diseases "Gladiator", stresses that it is particularly important to remind members of the immediate family about examinations.
- If someone in our family is affected by this disease, it is necessary not to hide it immediately, but to pass this message to everyone. I constantly remind my sons about cyclic examinations. This way they know that it's very important," emphasizes Miroslaw Czechowski.
