According to data presented at a press conference entitled "Smoking and vaping among schoolchildren. "Smoking and vaping among schoolchildren", held at the headquarters of the Polish Press Agency, every third student using a disposable e-cigarette smokes it in 24 hours or less. Meanwhile, one disposable e-cigarette is the equivalent of three packs a day.
It turns out that despite legal restrictions, most underage students still buy nicotine products in person at stationary stores. In 2023, about 100 million e-cigarettes were sold in Poland, almost 90 percent of which are imported from China and marketed without any testing.
We are working on a law that will ban disposable electronic cigarettes. We are in contact with the Prime Minister's Office, with the Ministry of Finance, so that it will be an airtight regulation," announces Dariusz Poznański, director of the Department of Public Health at the Ministry of Health.
The sale of electronic cigarettes over the Internet is also a problem, he adds, as it does not comply with the Tobacco Act, but is nonetheless being conducted. Thus, these regulations also need to be sealed.
