NHF: Piloting emergency contraception without limits
Published May 9, 2024 12:18
"There is information in the public space about the alleged limiting of pharmacist consultations in the emergency contraception pilot program. There is no such capping, and the NHF will pay for each consultation provided by a pharmacist," reads a communiqué issued by the Fund.
As explained, every contract with the National Health Service, according to the law, must be for a certain amount. In this case, it is exactly the same. The provincial branch of the NFZ agrees on the amount of the contract with the pharmacist, being flexible and assuming increased availability of the morning-after pill. If the contract amount is reached or exceeded, it will be annexed and the NHF will pay for each service. This will prevent the NFZ from freezing funds in the contract that may remain unused.
Recruitment of pharmacies for the pilot is now underway. The recruitment is open. To make joining the program as easy as possible, applications can be submitted electronically.
Later today, the National Health Service, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, will hold a webinar for pharmacists in which it will explain in detail the issues related to recruitment and contracting.
