- It is not our goal to liquidate the newly established medical faculties. We will control what happens at these faculties and final decisions will be made after the results of the inspection," Minister of Science and Higher Education Dariusz Wieczorek said in Plock. However, if the discrepancy with standards is significant and there is no way to meet them quickly, the faculties are to be closed.

The issue is primarily about the quality of education, which is why the head of the ministry has asked the Polish Accreditation Commission to inspect the medical faculties that have been established in recent years. If shortcomings are found, the universities will be subsidized so that they can match the standards set by better-prepared units. It will be different if the road to meeting standards is very far.

- If there are going to be medical faculties that have nothing, that is, neither laboratories, nor prosectories, nor contracts with hospitals or opportunities for internships, and learning is done online, then I honestly say that we will close these faculties. If this were to happen, we will transfer students to medical universities that have certificates," Dariusz Wieczorek pointed out.

The evaluation process for newly created medical faculties is expected to conclude in May.
