In the fight against dandruff and against plastic

Etiology of dandruff
Medical data shows that up to 50% of people, at some stage in their lives, will experience dandruff. It manifests as excessive and accelerated scaling of the scalp, which is often also accompanied by itching. Importantly, patients with a tendency to dandruff complain that it is recurrent, hence their need to have an effective product on hand with dermatologically proven performance and high safety parameters.
Dandruff can be caused by many factors. The most common one is considered to be epidermal proliferation, i.e. an accelerated cycle of tissue cell growth, which
from 28 days can shorten to as little as 7. Malessezia furfurfungi are also responsible for the formation of dandruff, and factors conducive to their growth include hormonal disorders, improper diet, as well as hygiene mistakes: both too frequent and too infrequent washing of the scalp, or overuse of hair styling cosmetics. In the autumn and winter, wearing headgear also promotes the formation or aggravation of dandruff.
Disorders of the scalp microbiome
One of the key factors responsible for the formation of dandruff is disruption of the scalp microbiome. The term "microbiome" was introduced into the medical dictionary by Nobel laureate Joshua Lederberg in 2001, describing the collection of genomes of all microorganisms (commensal, symbiotic and pathogenic) inhabiting the human body. The scalp, due to the conditions on it: high humidity, higher temperature and the secretion of sebum, which is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria and fungi, has the highest density of them, half of which are yeasts of the Malassezia species. The scalp is healthy and resistant to dandruff when the bacteria and fungi of the microbiome remain in proper proportion to each other. That's why the clinically proven effectiveness of DERCOS anti-dandruff shampoo in keeping the scalp microbiome in balance is especially important for people who have been struggling with recurring dandruff for years.

As a socially responsible and sustainable brand, Vichy is constantly looking for ways to reduce waste and lessen its impact on the environment. This time it has launched its flagship anti-dandruff shampoo, DERCOS, in a new, economical 500 ml refill pack. The new refill pack therefore offers consumers, in addition to its research-confirmed high effectiveness against dandruff, reduced plastic consumption and economy.
DERCOS anti-dandruff shampoo from VICHY has clinically documented efficacy and eliminates up to 100% of visible dandruff after just the first use. In addition, clinical studies have shown the effectiveness of DERCOS anti-dandruff shampoo in controlling the growth of key microorganisms and rebalancing the scalp microbiome after just 4 weeks of use.
