Episkin, an innovative method for in-vitro testing of dermocosmetics
The event featured a lecture on Episkin technology, which represents a breakthrough in cosmetic efficacy and safety research. The history of this human skin reconstruction technology dates back to 1979, and enables research on cosmetic products in an ethical and cruelty-free manner. In addition to skin models, Episkin has a rich set of tools that allow predictive evaluation of products without the use of animal testing.
Atopic dermatitis and skin prone to keratosis
As the largest human organ, the skin performs a variety of functions, including a key role in protecting against external factors. This protective role affects the condition and appearance of the skin, and damage to it can lead to various problems such as irritation and discomfort, as it is responsible for maintaining the hydrolipid barrier. During the lecture, expert Prof. Dr. Agnieszka Zebrowska presented a comprehensive analysis of the problems of dry skin and a compromised lipid barrier, directing attention to the importance of appropriate skin care products.
Dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis
The meeting also addressed the problems of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, the symptoms of which can be exacerbated by various external factors, among others; chronic stress, fatigue, unhealthy diet or vitamin and mineral deficiencies, or with improper care of the scalp and hair.
There are two types of dandruff: dry and greasy. In dry dandruff, flakes of skin fall on the surface of the shoulders, back and neckline. With oily dandruff, they are stuck to the hair and skin, forming scales that are difficult to remove. With dandruff, itching and redness of the skin is common. This ailment is chronic and recurrent, and is estimated to affect at least 50% of the population, more often men and younger people, and is associated with increased activity of hormones responsible for sebum production in the skin. The lectures presented methods focused on the treatment of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. Undoubtedly, an indispensable dermo product for the effective treatment of dandruff is the Dercos DS. range by VICHY.
Acne vulgaris
Participants also had the opportunity to listen to a lecture on phyllobiom, an innovative active ingredient that plays a key role in the fight against acne vulgaris. It acts against excessive sebum secretion and reduces the growth of C.Acnes IA1, which soothes and corrects imperfections. The La Roche- Posay brand has created Effaclar Duo + M cream, which is widely recommended for complementary therapy with drug treatment, and the first results are visible as early as 8 hours after application, including: correction of blackheads, imperfections and hyperpigmentation. It also prevents their reappearance. The effectiveness of the product on all skin tones: phototypes I to VI, has been clinically proven
