- Repayment of the loan exceeded the Institute's financial capacity, so I made the decision to cancel it. The Mother and Child Institute is an institution with more than 70 years of tradition. It helps patients and conducts scientific and research activities. Its importance cannot be overestimated, and thanks to the cancellation of the financial liability, it will be able to continue its stable development and help patients from all over the country," stressed Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda.

On December 29, 2016, an agreement was concluded between the State Treasury and the Mother and Child Institute to provide non-state aid support from the Entrepreneurs' Restructuring Fund. It allocated PLN 25.5 million to the Institute in the form of a loan. After updates, the loan's start date was January 31, 2026. On October 17, 2023, the Institute requested that the Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda cancel the loan in full, arguing its difficult financial situation.

According to the provisions of the Public Finance Act of August 27, 2009, receivables of a civil-law nature may be written off in full in cases justified by the important interest of the debtor or the public interest. In the case of the Institute, both of these prerequisites have been met.
