PET-CT is positron emission tomography - one of the best diagnostic methods that has found application in oncology. Thanks to the examination with this method, it is possible to detect changes at the level of cells and tissues, which is particularly important for identifying early cancerous lesions. It combines the methods of PET scanner and CT scanner, along with a system of image analysis, which result in a detailed examination of the entire body in several minutes.
The new laboratory could be built as a result of a project worth more than PLN 21 million, of which PLN 11.6 million came from state funding. The investment is expected to contribute to improving the availability and quality of health services provided in the field of positron emission tomography in the treatment of cancer. The diagnostic process will be faster thanks to the new equipment. It may take up to five times less time to find the focus of the disease than it does with the equipment used so far. In addition, the differentiation of lesions will be more accurate, the evaluation of the stage of the cancer process will be improved, the evaluation of the response to treatment will be more accurate and remission of the disease will be recognized sooner.
