The growing demand of specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of eating and swallowing disorders in neurological conditions, as well as the increase in the number of children with various developmental dysfunctions and neurological diseases in need of dietary support and adults requiring nutritional therapy for neurological diseases, contributed to the creation of Neurodietetics as a postgraduate program.

Neurodietetics is a course of study that will refine and expand theoretical and practical competence in the principles of nutrition for premature infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and seniors with neurodevelopmental disorders and neurological conditions.

Neurodietetics is an interdisciplinary field that combines knowledge and skills from medical science, dietetics and psychology. The growing number of people with dysfunctions of the central and peripheral nervous system brings with it the need for holistic knowledge that provides the ability to correctly diagnose nutritional deficiencies, implement diet therapy, as well as appropriate nutritional treatment in patients with various neurological diseases. The study of neurodietetics is interdisciplinary in nature. They include subject modules: medical, neurological, neuropsychological and dietetic. They provide an opportunity to expand theoretical and practical knowledge in a reputable neurological center and improve qualifications in the field of neurodietetics.

Upon graduation, the graduate will have the knowledge to diagnose nutrition and feeding disorders in children and adults in the course of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system and swallowing disorders in children, adolescents and adults. He will also be able to arrange and implement a program of diet therapy, nutritional treatment individually tailored to the needs of the patient, and will be able to take preventive measures among patients with neurological diseases, neurodevelopmental disorders and nutrition and feeding disorders.

The course is addressed to dietitians and doctors, and classes will be held in a hybrid form - online lectures, contact exercises. On the other hand, practical classes will be held in contact form at the departments of the Prof. K. Gibinski University Clinical Center, the Upper Silesian Children's Health Center Hospital No. 6 SUM and the SUM Department of Dietetics.

The lecturers are both academics and practitioners with extensive experience in managing neurological patients from both medical, dietary, speech therapy and psychological perspectives.

Recruitment for the postgraduate program will be launched as early as April 29 this year.
