Covid tests in pharmacies. A sharp reaction of laboratory diagnosticians and a change in regulations

The President of KRDL Alina Niewiadomska already on Monday (January 17) asked the Minister of Health for explanations in this matter. She also met with Deputy Minister Piotr Bromber and Maciej Miłkowski, who is directly responsible for creating these regulations.
According to the new draft, pharmacists will only be able to perform antigen tests for COVID-19.
The National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians emphasizes that there is no and will not be KIDL's consent to lead laboratory tests from MLD and deems unacceptable the idea of entrusting pharmacists with independent laboratory testing outside the laboratory, because this professional group does not have the qualifications and competences to perform them independently in the light of the Act on Laboratory Diagnostics.
In the opinion of the KRDL, it is unacceptable for the Ministry of Health to proceed with any regulations regarding laboratory diagnostics, omitting laboratory diagnosticians.
