The National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians upholds its position of March 17, 2022, opposing the plans of the Minister of Health to implement a new "Postgraduate Program in Medical Analytics" . The publication of the program on August 17, 2022 will lead to the re-education of people without medical education in order to be entered on the list of laboratory diagnosticians, which contradicts the common intentions of the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians and the Minister of Health, aimed at proper regulation of access to the profession laboratory diagnostician. Taking into account the necessity to ensure the full safety of the patient, the only guarantee of the proper performance of the profession are people completing a 5-year uniform Master's degree in the field of medical analyst. The legal provisions in the current legal circulation, i.e. those resulting from the Act on Laboratory Diagnostics, are defective and unlawfully open access to the profession of a laboratory diagnostician to people who are not prepared to perform it. Also, Medical Universities, noticing this problem and sharing the above-mentioned position of the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians, have not conducted postgraduate education in the field of medical analyst for many years, being primarily guided by the arguments related to the need to ensure the correct diagnosis of patients. In the current situation, it is extremely important that medical universities, instead of launching postgraduate education in the field of medical analytics, gradually expand their activities to increase the number of places for laboratory diagnosticians in the field of specialization education, because this is a key problem that the health care system is currently facing. There is no factual or legal premise that would justify postgraduate education in the field of medical analyst.

Given the above, it should be considered that the publication by the Minister of Health on August 17, 2022 of the "Postgraduate Education Program in Medical Analytics " stands in gross contradiction to the intentions and actions undertaken in recent years jointly by the National Council of Laboratory Diagnosticians and the Minister of Health, aimed at proper regulation of access to the profession of laboratory diagnostician, and in particular is not coherent with the intentions presented by the Minister of Health in the draft the Laboratory Medicine Act.
