Opposition to antagonizing the role of the medical profession

In connection with media statements made by the Minister of Health regarding the role of the medical professions, the presidents of the self-governing bodies of doctors, nurses and midwives, laboratory diagnosticians, pharmacists and physiotherapists have taken a joint position opposing antagonizing and reducing health care workers to the role of service providers and patients to the role of customers. They also called for constructive cooperation between representatives of the health ministry and the medical community to find the best solutions for all participants in the health care system. These solutions should also comply with current laws and ensure the safety of treatment.
- On the part of the Ministry, we expect - invariably - dialogue and a willingness to jointly solve pressing problems related to health care, rather than emotional, politically antagonizing statements that antagonize our communities," said the president of the Supreme Medical Council, Lukasz Jankowski.
Presidents of the Medical Professions Self-Governments
As Leaders of the Health Professions Self-Government, collectively representing more than 700,000 health care workers, we do not agree with attempts to antagonize our professions, and to reduce the health professions to the role of service providers and our patients to the role of customers.
At the same time, we emphasize that any solutions implemented in health care must comply with the applicable law and ensure health security for patients, as well as legal security for health care workers.
The health ministry on the X platform (formerly Twitter) assures that it is in constant dialogue with representatives of professional governments.
