The government adopted the draft amendment the Act on the method of determining the lowest basic salary of certain employees employed in healthcare entities . Although the changes assume an increase in wages, controversy is raised by significant differences in wages between representatives of the same medical professions and whether the amount of remuneration should be determined by the qualifications or qualifications required for a given job. We asked the Deputy Minister of Health, Piotr Bromber, for a comment.
- Nurses with the lowest salaries will earn over 40% more than before.
- People with specialization and higher education will earn more, which is a motivator to improve their qualifications.
- We create conditions for raising these qualifications - this year we will allocate PLN 10 million to postgraduate education.
- We are considering introducing the role of a mentor, i.e. a person who would introduce new employees to the profession.
- Our position is that the salaries of nurses and midwives should depend not on their qualifications, but on the qualifications required for a given position.
- The Ministry of Health is also working on changing education standards.
