Spring recruitment for specialties: 2558 free residency positions
Published April 6, 2023 12:37

According to CMKP, a total of 3339 applications were submitted in the spring recruitment process for specialty training. As part of the first stage of recruitment, 2,517 people were qualified for vacant specialty places: including 1,620 in the residency and 897 in the non-residency mode. There were 4,178 residency spots - twice as many as in last year's qualification process - and 10,808 non-residency spots, meaning that 2,558 residency spots were left vacant.
In the entire spring recruitment a year ago, 1,028 residencies were awarded, nearly 600 fewer. Compared to 2015, the number of resident physicians increased by more than 6,200, and there are now nearly 27,000 doctors in the process of specialization.
Today, ranking lists of doctors and dentists qualified and unqualified to begin specialization were published in the Education Monitoring System (SMK). The doctor has 10 days from the date of their publication, i.e. until April 16, 2023, to confirm via the SCM his acceptance of the indicated specialization place. If he or she fails to confirm this, it will mean that he or she withdraws from the first-stage competition procedure and releases the allocated specialty place.
A doctor who fails to confirm acceptance of a specialty place and a doctor who is on the list of doctors not qualified in the first stage shall be considered for the second stage of the procedure. The results of qualification in the second stage will be published on the day following the completion of the stage of confirming acceptance of the specialty place in the SCM. A doctor qualified in the second stage of the proceedings shall confirm acceptance of a specialty place using the SCM within 10 days from the date of publication of the ranking list, i.e. by April 28, 2023. Failure to confirm is considered a final withdrawal of the doctor from the qualification procedure. The final lists of qualified and unqualified doctors will be immediately published in the SCM and on the CMKP website.
Doctors who begin specialty training as a result of this spring qualification procedure will be bound by new training programs. The content of the programs can be found on the CMKP website. Every doctor and dentist referred by the governor to an accredited unit as of spring 2023 will have the new specialty training program applicable to him/her attached to the Electronic Specialty Card (EKS).
The programs were developed by expert teams appointed - separately for each field - by the director of the Center for Medical Postgraduate Education. In accordance with the Law on the Profession of Physician and Dentist, the chairmen of the teams were national consultants in a particular field of medicine. The team in each specialty included representatives of: the Supreme Medical Council, the national consultant, scientific societies in the field, and one representative of the CMKP.
