The draft defines the issues related to the principles and conditions of performing the activities of laboratory medicine, practicing the profession of a laboratory diagnostician as well as supervision and control of laboratories, as well as the organization and operation of the self-government of laboratory diagnosticians.
The most important solutions
• The title of a laboratory diagnostician will be available to people who graduated in medical analyst or laboratory medicine.
• Persons authorized to independently perform laboratory medicine activities in laboratories will be:
• laboratory diagnostician;
• a physician licensed to practice and a 1st or 2nd degree specialization in the field of analytics or in the field of microbiology or in the field of laboratory diagnostics
• a doctor with a second degree specialization in microbiology and serology;
• a doctor with the title of specialist in the field of laboratory diagnostics or the title of specialist in the field of medical microbiology.
• Laboratory diagnosticians will have the opportunity to practice as part of their professional practice.
• The Minister of Health will be able - at the request of a person with scientific or professional achievements on the basis of experts' opinions - to consider this achievement as equivalent to the implementation of the specialization training program.
• Applications for recognition of scientific and professional achievements may be submitted by interested persons to the Medical Center of Postgraduate Education.
• Laboratory diagnosticians who are recognized by the minister of health will be able to take the specialization examination immediately, and after obtaining a positive result in this examination, they will have the title of specialist in a given field of laboratory diagnostics.
• The solution will increase the number of specialists, thus increasing their availability on the medical services market.
• Up to 6 working days of paid training leave will be introduced, which the laboratory diagnostician will be able to use for continuous professional development.
The new solutions are to enter into force one month after the announcement, with the exception of some articles which will take effect 12 months after the announcement.
