September 25 is celebrated as World Pharmacist Day. The holiday was established at the initiative of the Turkish Pharmacists Association in 1968 and was initially celebrated only by Turkish pharmacists. The day has been celebrated worldwide since 2009.

As the Warsaw City Hall reminds us, pharmacists can celebrate their holiday several times a year under different names. International Pharmacists' Day is celebrated in May, World Pharmacists' Day is celebrated on September 25, and a day later, National Pharmacists' Day is celebrated on the namesakes of Cosma and Damian, who are, among other things, the patron saints of pharmacists. Each of the aforementioned holidays is designed to encourage the organization of activities that promote the role of pharmacists and their positive impact on our health.

According to the Central Statistical Office, at the end of 2021. (the most recent data in CSO reports - editor's note), 11.9 thousand pharmacies (general and company pharmacies) and 1.1 thousand pharmacy points were in operation, with 58.3 thousand master pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
