Blind Barbie among famous dolls
Published July 24, 2024 08:23

Blind Barbie, a new figure in the Barbie Fashionistas collection, was created in collaboration with the American Foundation for the Blind to faithfully represent the blind and visually impaired. Care was taken with details such as the face, accessories, clothing and even packaging to make the doll realistic. It was also tested with blind children.
The doll comes with a red and white soft-tipped cane and stylish, functional sunglasses to protect her light-sensitive eyes. Movable elbows allow comfortable use of the cane. Blind Barbie will appear on store shelves in late July.
Launched in 1959, Barbie has become a pop culture icon and has evolved over the years to better represent the diversity of society. Barbie dolls have also included models with various diseases and disabilities so that children can find dolls that reflect their own experiences.
