Due to the growing number of influenza infections, hospitals are starting to introduce restrictions on visiting patients. This decision has already been made by the Mazowiecki Specialist Hospital in Radom, Wojewódzki Szpital Zespolony im. L. Rydygier in Toruń and the Ostrów Wielkopolski Hospital.

As we learn from the announcement published on the website of the hospital in Radom, visits are possible only in special situations - this applies primarily to patients in the terminal phase of illness and a sudden deterioration of health. In such situations, the visit must be approved by the head or deputy head of the ward or the attending or duty doctor. Only one person who does not have any symptoms of infection, including: runny nose, cough, fever, sore throat, can visit a sick person. On similar terms, visits may be made to the hospital in Toruń.

In turn, in the hospital in Ostrów Wielkopolski, the visit ban applies to three departments: internal medicine, cardiology and neurology.

Nearly 300 influenza virus infections were recorded in Poland in the week preceding Christmas alone.
