The drug review allows the use of the substantive potential of pharmacists

The drug review is that a pharmacist analyzes the medications that a patient is taking, mainly in terms of their interactions. As Ewa Krajewska said, the pharmacist checks whether some drugs have, for example, duplicated the active substance.
According to dr hab. n. med. Agnieszka Neumann-Czaska from the Medical University of Poznań, who is the coordinator of the pilot project, the service is one of the ways to fully use the substantive potential of pharmacists. The role of the pharmacist ceases to be reduced to that of the salesman at the pharmacy counter. The pharmacist is beginning to be seen as an expert, involved in the process of establishing a safe treatment regimen.
Coordinators of the National Drug Review Pilotage and the Trade Union of Pharmaceutical Workers note, however, that a drug review is a service that requires pharmacists to expand their knowledge and qualifications. Therefore, training is needed, the completion of which will guarantee the proper quality of such services and will give pharmacy employees the appropriate qualifications.
