- The decision to cancel the debt was necessary. Its further repayment would have reflected negatively on the Institute's medical activities, and we cannot allow this to happen. The Institute "Pomnik - Children's Health Center" is a special institution, carrying out unique medical procedures and saving the health and lives of small patients from all over Poland. Thank you very much to everyone who helped in the positive consideration of this case," stressed Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda.
The institute received a PLN 100 million loan under an agreement dated December 21, 2015 to provide non-state aid support from the Entrepreneurs' Restructuring Fund. The funds were earmarked for optimizing employment, debt and asset resources, and increasing the efficiency of its operations.
On October 12, 2023, the Institute applied to the Minister of Development and Technology, Waldemar Buda, for cancellation of the remaining outstanding portion of the loan - more than PLN 88 million, justifying the request by the difficult financial situation, the important interest of the debtor and the important public interest.
On the basis of the Act of August 27, 2009 on public finances, receivables of a civil-law nature may be written off in cases justified by the important interest of the debtor or the public interest. The application of relief in such a case is based on the provisions of civil law. In the case of the Institute "Pomnik - Children's Health Center" in Warsaw, these prerequisites, in the opinion of the ministry, have been fulfilled.
