Adam Niedzielski: it takes ten years to educate a specialist

- We have behind us the experience of the pandemic and a large overhang of neglect from previous years, when doctors were not educated. In order to educate a doctor, in order for new specialists to appear on the market, not even eight, but more than ten years are needed," Adam Niedzielski said on the Guest of Events program.
As he assured, the mechanisms in which the Law and Justice government has invested heavily will soon begin to work.
- I'm talking about the education of doctors, the fact that we are expanding enrollments in medical schools, that medical majors are appearing at new universities. There are already their first graduates, and they will be heading to specialties. It's a matter of two years when we will see a qualitative change," the health minister said.
Meanwhile, it turns out that the Informator on Treatment Appointments, run by the National Health Fund, completely fails to fulfill its role. Information about waiting times for appointments with specialists at medical facilities rarely coincides with reality. The health minister pointed out that it is not the National Health Fund that creates the data, but the website is based on declarations made by medical entities. However, the head of the health ministry admitted that he is not satisfied with how the informant works.
- Therefore, we have decided to implement gradually a solution in the form of an electronic reservation, such as the one that worked in the case of vaccinations on COVID-19. It will give certain information, not based on declarations," announced Adam Niedzielski.
