- Unfortunately, we most often meet the patient only at the stage of illness, and even more often when there are already complications in the form of a heart attack, stroke or other serious conditions, sometimes leading to disability. It is important that we meet the patient more often at the stage of prevention, i.e. have contact with a still healthy person - to tell him how he can prevent cardiovascular disease," said Dr. Klaudiusz Komor, vice president of the Supreme Medical Council, in an interview with Medexpress during the Economic Forum in Karpacz.

- It's not a matter of meeting each of them individually, because prevention is required by more than half of Poles. That is why information campaigns and media through which we can reach patients are so important. NIL also tries to get involved in such campaigns," added Klaudiusz Komor.

According to the NIL vice-president, Poland needs a comprehensive prevention program, but too little money is being spent on such initiatives.

- I think we should use the media first and foremost to reach as wide a public as possible, so that as many people as possible hear about what a healthy lifestyle looks like. We need to promote the image of a person who lives a healthy life. It should be normal for such a person to get up in the morning, go for a jog, exercise, that vegetables and fruits are present in the diet," Dr. Klaudiusz Komor mentioned.
