The Presidium of the Supreme Medical Council appeals to the Minister of Health to ensure that in 2024 hospitals are provided with financing for health services provided above the lump sum of the basic hospital health care system (PHC), i.e. life-saving and hospital services resulting from urgent medical indications.

"The medical self-government does not accept that the difficult financial situation of the National Health Fund will result in the collapse of the Polish hospital system and thus a dramatic deterioration in the availability of health services provided to patients in hospitals," reads a communiqué published on the website of the Supreme Medical Chamber.

"The medical self-government's concern about the proper financing of hospitals' overtime is due to the fact that currently only information has been provided about the launch of the procedure for financing unlimited services for the second quarter of 2024 and the assurance of the ability to finance unlimited services for the third quarter of 2024, while there are no clear assurances regarding the financing of hospitals' overtime of the PES lump sum."
