A meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office with the participation of families who lived to see their offspring thanks to the program. The event was an opportunity to summarize the effects of the program reinstated by the current government. As emphasized, during the two years of the program's operation, 15,000 children have already been born, and 40,000 couples trying to have offspring have been supported.
- This is one of the most beautiful Children's Days with children who have been a coveted treasure for all of you," Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the parents.
According to data cited during the meeting, up to 1.5 million couples in Poland may be facing the problem of infertility. The IVF program is intended to respond to the needs of this group and as part of the state's pro-family policy. Health Minister Jolanta Sobieranska-Grenda informed of the increase in the program's budget. - Already 40,000 couples are covered by the IVF program. We are also increasing funding for the program from 500 million to 600 million zlotys per year, she said.
The Health Ministry stresses that the additional funds will allow more couples to be covered and ensure the stable operation of the program in future years. It also recalled that during the previous edition of the program implemented in 2013-2016, 22,365 children were born thanks to the IVF procedure.
During the ceremony, government representatives pointed out that support for families should include not only assistance in getting pregnant, but also measures to facilitate raising children.
- I want to emphasize how important it is that we all mobilize our forces so that there are as many children as possible in Poland. So that they are safe and parents have a sense of material security. Our future depends on this," Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted. The head of government also noted the importance of developing public services and the childcare system. - Our task is to provide these little ones with security - state borders, material security, crèches and care opportunities. We work on this every day," he said.
The IVF program was presented as one of the elements of a broader family policy implemented by the government. Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy Aleksandra Gajewska reiterated the solutions designed to make it easier for parents to reconcile professional responsibilities with childcare. - We feel an obligation to create opportunities for parents to combine professional activity with parenthood. That's why "grandmotherly" was created, to make everyday life easier for young families, she stressed.
Under the "Active Parent" program, parents of children up to the age of three can receive up to PLN 1,500 per month for arranging care. According to the government, thanks to the ongoing activities, 388 municipalities have gained access to nurseries, 45,000 new care places for the youngest have been created, and 918 playgrounds at nurseries have been modernized. Also recalled was an increase in the child-rearing benefit from PLN 500 to PLN 800 per month.
