During the Wednesday press conference (video here ) Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski informed:
- Omicron has become a fact. It is already over 20% of infections in Poland. It is the omicron that is responsible for the growth dynamics.
- Yesterday we recorded 30,586 new infections.
- The number of tests performed is also a record, PCR tests still have a large share.
- The number of orders for further research is growing dynamically.
- Next week, we may even have over 50,000. infections daily. This is a huge risk to the health of the healthcare system.
- We have over 14,000 occupied beds. It was a good decision not to agree to the shrinking infrastructure of covid beds.
- Having vaccinations protects you, above all, from getting seriously ill with COVID.
- We have decided to introduce mandatory remote work in public administration.
- I appeal to employers to make remote work the norm whenever possible.
- Our system is capable of 40 thousand. patients with COVID, the number of beds can be up to 60, but this already means insufficient system and the queue of ambulances with patients waiting for admission.
- A critical issue is the act being processed in the Sejm, which will dispel any doubts as to the possibility of universal use of the covid certificate.
- A very dangerous scenario is unfolding. Requires to adopt a very responsible attitude.
- This wave will have a lower percentage of inpatients, but this requires strengthening pre-hospital care. In December, we presented guidelines for pre-hospital care provided by GPs.
- On Friday, we will present a package of further projects: increase the popularity of testing, so that an antigen test can be performed in every pharmacy, the result of which will be sent to a central database. We will want to change the procedure for managing a patient in primary health care so that, in some groups of patients, teleportation is not the only form of examining the patient. We will respond to any limitation in the availability of services by GPs.
- Rumors of [my] resignation are just rumors.
- Lockdowns like in previous waves will no longer be a tool used in epidemic policy. We focus on the use of certificates.
