PPOZ: it's bad that we are no longer afraid of COVID-19!

- The drama of Poles and the world is not only the war in Ukraine, but still and constantly - SARS-CoV-2! The significant decrease in the number of vaccinations, the increasing number of post-sovid complications and death due to infection are worrying. We are extremely concerned about the government's ideas to lift the three most important restrictions: masks, quarantine, and isolation. Disregarding the pandemic, we should expect another, even bigger wave! - warns Bożena Janicka, president of the Alliance of Healthcare Employers.
The war in Ukraine left its mark not only on the situation in Europe, but also in the world. Aid to refugees, war heroes, attempts to resolve a growing conflict - these are the problems that dominated the global information policy.
- Observing the criminal actions of the eastern power and innocent civilians fleeing death, it is hardly surprising. On the other hand, in all this chaos of war, we forgot about the COVID-19 pandemic, which not only has not died out, but is still the main cause of death among patients. Especially those with multiple diseases. Coronavirus infection leads to exacerbation of diseases and, as a result, to serious complications, mainly pneumonia and myocarditis. Many patients die from this. Hand in hand with the risk of death is - unfortunately - the lack of vaccinations. Vaccines at our disposal protect against complications very well, but patients do not take advantage of this option. We are very saddened by the fact that the interest in vaccinations against COVID-19 has declined and the fact that the information campaign encouraging to vaccinate has long ceased! - emphasizes Bożena Janicka.
While Europe is facing war aggression, the East is again paralyzing COVID-19. China has records for the number of new infections. Cities and factories are closed again. New cases from the even more infectious Omikron sub-variant are also arriving in South Korea and Vietnam. Low immunization rates are conducive to the spread of infections.
... - I believe that the issue of vaccination should be publicized again, especially now, in the era of migration of foreigners. We hear that the number of infections is also starting to increase in Western Europe: in Germany, France, and Spain. We ask all unvaccinated people to report to vaccination centers as soon as possible. We also urge you to vaccinate your children and receive a booster dose! Removing masks in closed rooms, crowded trains, buses, shops is a huge risk! By downplaying COVID-19, we can pay the highest price - warn PPOZ doctors.
In Poland, the number of new infections daily exceeds several thousand, and no less than 200 people die. This number, together with the influx of refugees from Ukraine who are also very poorly vaccinated, could lead to new outbreaks of infection.
The vaccination rate of Poles is actually standing still and may not exceed 60%. The worst result is in the case of a booster dose, for which only every third Polish patient came.
