- While we marvel at the possibilities in the field of medical simulation, we can't indiscriminately get swayed by technological advances," Prof. Głuszek noted at the Center's opening ceremony.
Dr. Przemysław Wolak, Associate Dean for Education at the Medical College, recalled that the Center was established as part of the "MEDICUS - UJK medical simulation center" project, co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund.
In the scientific session accompanying the event, young scientists representing, among others, the University of Zielona Gora, Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University and Jan Kochanowski University spoke. The subject of the conference, moderated by UJK Prof. Grażyna Nowak-Starz, MD, Agata Michalska, MD, and Przemyslaw Wolak, MD, was the use of medical simulation centers in teaching medicine, physiotherapy, emergency medicine and nursing. A training workshop was held simultaneously with the scientific session. Leading it, lek. Michal Bączek prepared, among other things, demonstrations of performing minimally invasive endovascular procedures, perinatal care of newborns and basics of surgical suturing.
The Multi-Profile Medical Simulation Center included OSCE exam rooms, an ICU, an operating theater with a surgical washer and control room, a room with an ambulance simulator, a room for teaching surgical skills and teaching clinical skills, and a virtual reality room. The MEDICUS project also retrofitted BLS (Basic Life Support), ALS (Advanced Life Support) and nursing skills simulation rooms.
