- The current situation is very bad. We have no connectivity, no internet. Sometimes, for some reason, the phones don't work. A sniper attacked four patients inside the hospital. One of them has a gunshot wound to the neck, and has quadriplegia," says Mohammed Obeid, a surgeon with Doctors Without Borders at Al-Shifa Hospital.
Medical personnel, including Médecins Sans Frontières, critical patients and displaced civilians, are still at Al-Shifa Hospital.
Doctors Without Borders is calling for an end to attacks on hospitals, an immediate ceasefire and safe passage for those who wish to leave hospitals. Medical facilities, medical staff and patients must be protected.
