MZ: Hedgehog will teach you to eat

The JEŻ program was inaugurated by educational and culinary workshops. Under the guidance of experienced nutritionists, students prepared nutritious, colorful and tasty desserts. Earlier, they talked about a properly balanced diet. Ministers Przemysław Czarnek and Adam Niedzielski and the rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences prof. dr hab. Michal Zasad.
– The idea behind the Junior-Edu-Żywanie program is to provide education to the entire school environment: teachers, students and their immediate surroundings. We will train teachers to teach children healthy eating from an early age - explains Minister Przemysław Czarnek.
The Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, emphasizes: - The number of overweight and obese children is growing. We must work together to change our eating habits. The health of our children is a priority.
The program will be implemented throughout Poland by specialists from the Institute of Human Nutrition Sciences of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the National Institute of Public Health NIH - National Research Institute in Warsaw (NIZP NIH - PIB).
Over 15,000 a teacher from almost 2,200 schools registered for the program will take part in certified training. They will receive educational materials developed by experts, including lesson plans with worksheets for students.
Practical classes are a key element of nutritional education. Therefore, classrooms will be created in academic centers all over Poland that participate in the programme. The first one is already operating in NIZP-PZH.
Classrooms will be equipped with the necessary equipment to train teachers in their regions in the field of nutrition education. The trainings will be conducted with the use of educational and instructional materials prepared by the NIZP NIH - PIB.
