On September 3, 2025, officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau from the Szczecin Delegation detained the director general of the Institute of Natural Fibers and Herb Plants. The detention occurred in connection with his acceptance of another tranche of financial benefits. According to the investigators' findings, the bribe was intended to lead to the distribution of funds from the National Reconstruction Plan (NRP) contrary to current regulations, as well as to arrange the admission of a designated person to medical school.

During the CBA operation, a second man was also detained, and a third person was detained during further operations. The detentions took place under the supervision of the West Pomeranian Branch of the National Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin.

Charges and preventive measures

The suspects heard charges under Article 230 of the Criminal Code, Article 230a of the Criminal Code, Article 231 § 2 of the Criminal Code, and Article 263 of the Criminal Code, among others. Two of them gave extensive explanations, partially confirming the findings of law enforcement agencies. The public prosecutor applied free preventive measures against them, including property sureties in the amount of PLN 50,000 and PLN 15,000, bans on leaving the country and bans on contacting certain persons.

In the case of the third suspect, the prosecutor requested temporary custody for three months - a request that was granted by the court. Separately, in another thread of the case, procedural activities included another suspect.

CBA officers secured extensive documentation related to the provision of KPO support to the institute, as well as a significant amount of cash.
