Health Minister Adam Niedzielski has signed a decree restricting remote prescriptions for narcotic and psychotropic drugs. In turn, prescriptions with reimbursement are excluded from the numerical limits on prescribing.

According to the health minister's regulation, the issuance of a prescription for narcotic and psychotropic drugs must be accompanied by an examination and assessment of the effect on the patient. The exception is the continuation of treatment after no more than 3 months after a visit to the doctor.

"In addition, after consulting with experts, I decided to exclude reimbursed prescriptions from the introduced limits, as they are under constant control of the National Health Fund. POZ patients have no problem accessing prescriptions. Nearly 100 percent of those exceeding the limits are employees of online stores," the Health Minister tweeted.

Meanwhile, confusion continues over the limits mentioned earlier. At issue is the limitation, in effect since July 3, of the number of medical orders issued during a physician's 10-hour workday to 300. Doubts are raised by the Medical Council about the manner in which this limit was introduced. As a result, Physician Ombudsman Monika Potocka has asked the director of the e-Health Center to make available the business order under which such a limitation was implemented in the P1 system.
