The guide will help staff communicate with parents of premature babies

The communication guide is to show nurses, midwives and doctors how important their approach to parents whose child is fighting for life is, how important words and every gesture made in their direction are. What is routine for medical staff is a great unknown for parents. They need help to go through the hardest moments in their lives, often associated with the loss of a child. This is of course not easy. Nurses and doctors often work under great stress themselves. Staff shortages cause them to work harder and longer than they should, which means that they do not have time to talk, and rush is certainly not conducive to communication.
A guide on communication with parents of premature babies received a positive recommendation from prof. Ewa Helwich, national consultant in the field of neonatology.
– This is a story about how to be empathetic and find the best solutions in time,
dominated by uncertainty whether it will be possible to save a child who appeared in the world much prematurely. I highly recommend this thought-provoking book
and personal experiences of people who know what obstacles in mutual understanding we encounter in stressful and extremely difficult situations, when the lives and health of small children are at risk - says prof. dr hab. n. med. Ewa Helwich in the introduction to the guide.
