Following Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna's announcement that the National Health Fund will pay for the 2023 overruns, the Fund has just revised its financial plan. The National Health Fund will allocate more than PLN 2 billion more funds for the cost of medical services. This will allow the Fund to finance services that medical facilities have performed above the amount of the contract with the NFZ.

On Monday, March 4, the NFZ president signed an order amending the NFZ's financial plan for 2024. 2.23 billion zlotys have just been added to the NFZ budget.
What will the money be used for?
The release of funds from the reserve fund will allow the financing of services performed in excess of the value under contracts with the National Health Fund. This includes inpatient treatment, drug programs, chemotherapy, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient services.
The money should reach medical facilities later this month.
