Instead of celebrating the centenary of the hospital ... moving to the other end of the city and leaving a lot to be desired farewell to the doctor who started his career there. This is the situation in one of the oldest hospitals in Warsaw: the Solec Hospital.

HERE STARTED HIS CAREER

The hospital in Warsaw's Powiśle was established in 1921. The first gynecological department was opened there, and then more. The general surgery department with a proctology sub-unit enjoyed a reputation all over Poland. It was there that prof. Krzysztof Bielecki. As he recalls, he later worked in other clinics, the Bielański Hospital and the Orłowski Hospital. He retired in 2008 but wanted to continue to practice. So he returned to Solec.

- For 14 years I worked as a contract consultant and patient attorney. When the clinic was managed by the previous president, prof. Ewa Więckowska, I felt appreciated, I shared my knowledge, experience and, as much as I could, helped in the hospital - says prof. Krzysztof Bielecki.

At the end of August last year, prof. Więckowska submitted her resignation. Artur Kowalczyk took the position of the president of the company's management board. Then the Hospital in Solec was connected with the newly built Southern Hospital on Pileckiego Street, which did not receive an independent contract with the National Health Fund.

MOVING TO THE URSYNÓW

Prof. Bielecki was not satisfied especially with one of the key decisions made by the new management board. It was about moving the departments from Solec to the Southern Hospital in Ursynów. In mid-August, patients stopped being admitted and the relocation started.

- Even the fittings were unscrewed from the gynecology department. Even wardrobes, sofa beds and chairs were moved to the new hospital. I rebelled and hung a note on the door of my office, which said that it was not intended for evacuation - says the professor.

As he admits, he naively believed that someone would take his opinion into account. He adds that his primary concern was to prevent the patients from Powiśle from losing access to hospital care.

Then the doctor went away for a few days to rest by the lake. He was surprised when his leisure was interrupted by a call from the head nurse responsible for the move.

- She informed me that all rooms, including my office, must be empty because we are giving the hospital to the city. I asked them to wait for at least two days with this. I returned to Warsaw a day earlier than originally planned. What was my surprise when I saw the door of my office removed from the hinges and an empty room - says prof. Krzysztof Bielecki.

As he adds, apart from the furniture, a computer was also taken, which was owned by the hospital, but on which the professor had been working every day for twelve years. Krzysztof Bielecki immediately resigned from his positions. He found a job at the Orłowski Hospital.

ENTRY DON'T

Today (September 21), when he was passing the hospital, he decided to visit him for a while. He was again unpleasantly disappointed.

- The porter did not let me enter or enter the clinic. She showed me a letter in which it was written that Mr. Krzysztof Bielecki was forbidden from entering the hospital and could only enter the Admission Room, just like the patients. I felt sorry. This is how the farewell of a hundred-year-old hospital and the man who started his career there looks like - regrets the professor.

As Krzysztof Bielecki adds, he has no claims to anyone. I only feel regret. He also believes that medical assistance should continue to be provided in the hospital building. He ensures that he has a lot of ideas on how to manage it. The problem is that nobody asks him for his opinion.
