The amendments to the bill proposed by the Supreme Council of Nurses and Midwives concerned three areas. The first concerned the inclusion of associations associating specialists in the field of nursing or midwifery into the group of potential sponsors of a clinical trial. The second assumed the extension of the composition of the Chief Bioethics Committee operating at the AOTMiT to include people practicing the profession of nurse and midwife.
– This gives us the opportunity to participate not only in the research itself, but also to supervise how the research is carried out – comments Sebastian Irzykowski, vice president of the NRPiP
The third amendment adopted by the Parliamentary Health Committee allows persons with the right to practice as a nurse or midwife to perform the role of the main researcher.
– Until now, the research was carried out by doctors or dentists. Now nurses and midwives have joined this elite group. It is a great success – underlines Sebastian Irzykowski.
