Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency announced that remote data transmission from security monitoring systems installed at the Chernobyl power plant, taken over by the Russian military, has been lost. He also added that the situation of employees trapped in the facility - more than 200 technicians and firefighters - who have limited access to food, water and medicine, is worsening.
However, the National Atomic Energy Agency reassures that it monitors the radiation situation on an ongoing basis and currently there is no threat to human health and life or the environment in Poland.
