Death of a doctor

A patient, an officer of the uniformed services, which puts in an even worse light the institutions of the state, which is unable to create a safe working environment for medical professionals (and no, it's not about metal detectors at the doors of the hospital), on the other hand - it fails to recognize dangerous attitudes among those who act on behalf of the state. Paradox: a public official has fallen (this is how the director of the University Hospital in Krakow, Marcin Jędrychowski, described the incident, and although it was said in tremendous emotion, it most accurately captures the (in)sense of the tragedy).

In the comments coming from the medical community, despair and disbelief are mixed with a sense of frustration and disagreement with the reality that there is, at the very least, acquiescence to aggression against this professional group. Consent on the part of the state authorities (repeated dismissal of cases, reported by doctors, concerning attacks - verbal and physical - by patients, threats directed at their address), on the part of politicians in power, who go over and above the statements that "death wears a white coat today," doctors want to kill chronically ill patients or even put them to death in ICUs. In the case of the latter statement, admittedly, a final verdict was recently passed - after nearly six years of court battle, and the convict was given a sentence of restriction of liberty in the form of community service.

Whether and what consequences will be drawn against Grzegorz Braun, who just two weeks ago, almost simultaneously, stormed into the hospital and tried to carry out a "civil detention" of a doctor, preventing her from attending to patients, and in front of the headquarters of the medical chamber in Wroclaw thundered that he demanded the "denazification of NFZ medicine, medical chamber medicine, pandemicists." - Death to the enemies of the homeland, and life to the Poles!

Some doctors are talking about the effects of years of ratting out the public, the patients. Even taking into account possible mental imbalances, there is no doubt that the message that doctors serve the interests of pharmaceutical companies or even forces interested in depopulation (yes, this theme, too, after all, resonates strongly in the spreading of fake news) can only strengthen them significantly. The role of the state, the role of public institutions, is to fight such claims. Doctors will not defend themselves. Medical professionals will not defend themselves if the state does not unequivocally stand on their side. Not just verbally when a tragedy occurs.
